Cyclone Warning: Impact of Cyclone in Arabian Sea, rains in these states till October 25

There is good news for you. Northeast Monsoon activity has started. Just two days ago the South West Monsoon left. On the other hand, the Southwest Monsoon has departed and here, the Northeast Monsoon has been delayed by a few days. Although the entire country will not see any major changes with the arrival of this monsoon, the southern states will definitely be affected. The names of these states are Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Monsoon has started in these two states today i.e. from October 21. Rains are being recorded in these states. However, its impact will not be seen in North Indian states for now. Weather will remain dry in North Indian states.

On the other hand, the India Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the coastal districts of Odisha from October 23 to 25. The IMD’s regional center in Bhubaneswar said a low pressure has formed over the Bay of Bengal. It is said that the system may intensify and become a depression around October 23. However, dry weather will continue in the state till October 22. Whereas on the Navami of Durga Puja on October 23rd and the next day on Dasami or Dussehra, it may rain.

Effects of low pressure areas

A low pressure over southeast and adjoining central Bay of Bengal may transform into a depression over west-central Bay of Bengal by 22nd. It will move north-northeastwards towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coast and intensify during next 03 days. Cyclone “Tez” is very likely to develop into a severe cyclonic storm over the southwest Arabian Sea, then become a very strong cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours and hit Al Qaida (Yemen) and Salalah land in the morning of 25 October. This includes the possibility of crossing the Yemen-Oman coast.

Due to the low pressure created in the south-east and central Bay of Bengal, there may be rain or change in weather in some parts of the country. Details about this are given below.

  • Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura: Light to moderate rain at most places and heavy rain at few places on October 24 and 25.
  • South Assam: Light to moderate rain at some places and heavy rain at some places on October 25.
  • Coastal districts of Odisha: Light to moderate rain at few places on 23rd and 25th and at many places on 24th.
  • Coastal districts of West Bengal: Light to moderate rain is likely at many places on October 24 and 25.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the southeast and adjacent east central and southwest Bay of Bengal till October 23 in view of the possibility of a storm.
