Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (Prime Minister Kisan Scheme) is a scheme for the economic well-being of farmers. The Central Government is going to launch a massive campaign to include all eligible farmers and ensure their participation The central government received complaints that some eligible farmers were not getting the benefits of the scheme. After this now central government is taking strong steps for verification and digital enrollment of farmers.
Complaints of farmers
Eligible farmers who could not participate in the scheme are still complaining about it. Farmers are complaining about two problems in particular. Firstly, the land details of the farmers do not match with the land record system of the state and the second complaint is that the e-KYC of the farmers has not been done. In this scenario, there is still scope to cover more farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme.
The Ministry has developed an IT system
To help states capture almost 100% data of all eligible but absent land-owning households, the ministry has developed an IT system where it is being managed in a largely automated manner. It does not compel farmers to submit documents to avail PM Kisan benefits. There are also plans to launch a mobile app related to Pradhan Mantri Kishan Yojana. This app will allow farmers to register digitally and help states create comprehensive farmer registries.
This is how e-KYC will be done
According to media reports, farmer authorization through Aadhaar based e-sign and e-KYC will be done only as a registration and verification process and e-KYC will be done through face or OTP. Also, there are plans to enable fingerprint based biometrics authentication through the app. Thus, all e-KYC or authentication requirements will be fulfilled digitally for easy verification and nomination in PM-Kisan and land verification of farmers.
