Paddy collection: In the 2023-24 kharif marketing year, under the Minimum Support Price Scheme (MSP), procurement is proposed to begin from November 1 in districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, while in districts of western Uttar Pradesh, procurement of paddy will begin. October 1 Online registration for sale of paddy was done by 3,08,663 farmers in eastern Uttar Pradesh and 13648 MT of paddy was purchased from 2282 farmers. At this time last year, 1614 MT was purchased from 332 farmers.
As directed by CM Yogi Adityanath, in view of the arrival of paddy for the benefit of farmers, paddy collection will begin from October 20 in Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Unnao in Lucknow division of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Sultanpur in Amethi. Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Barabanki District of Ayodhya Division. For this reason, instructions have been given to the District Magistrates of the respective districts to activate the purchasing centers and start purchasing paddy from the farmers. Farmers of these districts will be able to sell paddy from October 20.
So far 13648 MT has been purchased
Last time 1614 metric tons of paddy was purchased from all agencies. According to the sources of the Food and Logistics Department, 13648.46 metric tons have been purchased till Wednesday. So far 2282 farmers have benefited from it. 13640.22 metric tons of normal and hybrid 8.24 metric tons of paddy have been procured in 730 centers.
4000 procurement centers have been set up
The Yogi government informed that the government will buy two categories of paddy from farmers for the financial year 2023-24. In this, ‘Dhan Common’ will be bought at Rs 2183 per quintal and ‘Grade A’ at Rs 2203 per quintal. UP’s food and logistics department makes government purchases of paddy and wheat and other commodities from farmers through procurement centres. In view of this, about 4000 procurement centers of other organizations including the Directorate have been developed.
