Seeing the immense potential for development in the field of veterinary science, the Yogi government of UP has taken the initiative to establish a veterinary science college at Gorakhpur. CM Yogi on Wednesday reviewed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the project and ordered the commencement of its construction. In the review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Yogi said that in the field of veterinary science ancient texts like Shalihotra Samhita can be a guide in research etc. He said, in the construction of this college, all possible energy conservation measures should be taken. In line with this, the government has decided to develop the entire campus of this college on a net zero energy concept.
The facility will extend to eastern region and Nepal
Chief Minister’s office informed that CM Yogi has ordered to start the construction of the proposed Veterinary Science College in Gorakhpur soon. While reviewing the DPR of this college, he said that this college will be affiliated with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Veterinary Sciences University and Cow Research Institute located in Mathura. With its establishment, cattle farmers in eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Bihar as well as neighboring Nepal will also benefit from its services.

More than 12 thousand verses recorded in ‘Salihotra Samhita’ written by Shalihotra in ancient times provide better guidance for research work in the field of veterinary medicine. A lot of progress has been made in this field in the modern era. A large number of young people are interested in joining research-study-education in this field.
The college will be constructed in 3 phases
After the meeting the government informed about the structure of the college and it will be constructed in 3 phases. 80 acres of land has been identified in Gorakhpur for the construction of the college campus. Its huge campus will have basic facilities like hospital block, academic block, staff quarters and hostels.
In addition, research study centers for various branches of veterinary science will also be developed in this campus. It will have treatment facilities on the ground floor for large animals and on the first floor for small ones. Apart from poultry science and dairy sector, CM Yogi also directed to make necessary arrangements for research etc. to improve animal breeds.
College will be built on green concept
CM Yogi emphasized the need to build college campuses on ‘Net Zero Energy’ concept. For this, all necessary measures will be taken to conserve energy in the entire college campus. As per the DPR of the college, a green campus will be developed using modern science architectural technology.
100 students will be admitted at the undergraduate level in the initial phase. Since the establishment of the college, there will be coordination with experts from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Veterinary Sciences University and Cattle Research Institute regarding the services and facilities available in it.
